This, My Love, Is Being Alive Pt. 2
Medium: Audio/Visual
Music Composition: The Field
We all have a story. Where we have been. Where we are at. Where we are going. The piece, ‘This, My Love, Is Being Alive Pt. 2’ is the second half of a vignette which portrays the reminiscing of one’s life from a dreamlike state beginning with the first heartbeat and ending with a final reach towards the Light Source which is present throughout the film. Although the sums of our lives are oftentimes crowded out by temporary materialistic holographs of reality, the individual remembers life through the purest sources of what has connected it into ‘being alive’ throughout the entirety of their existence: other fractals of Life Source [like] the blades of grass in the fields they once walked through as a child. The moments of sunlight streaming through a window. Twirling in a park as dandelion fragments dance around them. The piece invites us to remember our truest beginnings and our ultimate ending of returning to Source.
The music piece ‘The Field’, is an acapella composition of four-part harmony chordal movements which is historically present in religious hymns and sacred chants. With a Mennonite upbringing shaping the roots of her journey through music, the artist has been composing acapella pieces from a young age with an innate understanding into harmonics and the vibrational qualities of those harmonies. This piece was inspired by what the artist describes as a “symphony of silence” - sitting with the silence of nature until the organic observation of the obvious and ambiguous natural sounds begin to harmonize.
